Tracking Link Analytics

Every click on a StackBloom short link is recorded in real time. Understand who is clicking your links, where they are coming from, and which devices they are using — so you can optimize your campaigns with real data.

Step 1: Click any link to view its analytics

1

From the URL Shortener dashboard, click on any short link's row to open its detail page. The Analytics tab is selected by default and shows an overview of total clicks, unique visitors, and top traffic sources.

  • Total clicks counts every redirect, including repeat visitors
  • Unique clicks are deduplicated by IP address and user agent within a 24-hour window
  • Click data is available in near real-time with a typical delay of under 60 seconds
  • Workspace-level analytics aggregate stats across all links in that workspace

Step 2: Review click volume over time

2

The Click Chart shows daily or hourly click volume across your selected date range. Hover over any data point to see the exact count for that period. Look for spikes that correlate with your campaign send times or social posts.

  • Toggle between daily, weekly, and hourly granularity
  • Compare multiple date ranges side by side to measure campaign growth
  • Annotate the chart with campaign notes to add context to spikes
  • A flat line after initial traffic may indicate a campaign has run its course

Step 3: See breakdowns by country, browser, device, and referrer

3

Scroll below the chart to see four key breakdown panels. Each shows a ranked list with percentage share so you can quickly identify your top traffic sources.

  • Countries — see which markets are most engaged with your links
  • Browsers — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and others broken out by share
  • Devices — mobile vs desktop vs tablet split
  • Referrers — which websites, apps, or campaigns are driving clicks
  • Click any item in a breakdown to filter the entire analytics view to that segment

Step 4: Filter by date range

4

Use the date range picker at the top right of the analytics page to zoom in on specific time periods. Compare performance during a campaign launch week versus the following week, or review monthly trends over the past quarter.

  • Preset ranges: Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days, This month, Custom
  • Date filtering applies to all charts and breakdown panels simultaneously
  • Analytics are stored indefinitely — you can look back at any historical period
  • Workspace-level date filters cascade down to all links in that workspace

Step 5: Export click data as CSV

5

Click Export > CSV from the analytics page to download raw click data. The export includes one row per click event with timestamp, country, device type, browser, and referrer — ready for import into a spreadsheet or BI tool.

  • Exports are scoped to the current date range and filters
  • Large exports (100k+ rows) are processed asynchronously and delivered by email
  • Use the API to automate regular data pulls into your data warehouse
  • Individual IP addresses are never included in exports to comply with privacy regulations

💡 Tip: Use UTM parameters in your destination URLs for deeper campaign tracking. Append tags like ?utm_source=email&utm_campaign=launch to your long URL before shortening it. These parameters pass through to your Google Analytics or Plausible dashboard, giving you conversion data that goes beyond raw click counts.
