Using the Block-Based Builder
The StackBloom Proposals block builder lets you assemble stunning, client-ready proposals without any design experience. Combine text, images, pricing tables, and signature blocks by dragging and dropping — then send a link your client opens in any browser.
Step 1: Create a new proposal and enter the builder
From the Proposals dashboard, click New Proposal. Enter a name for internal reference (your client won't see this), then click Open Builder. You can start from a blank canvas or pick a pre-built template to speed up your workflow.
- Templates are organized by industry — choose from Agency, Freelancer, SaaS, Consulting, and more
- Starting from a template pre-populates all the standard proposal sections you can then customize
- The builder auto-saves your work every 30 seconds so you never lose progress
- You can rename the proposal at any time from the builder's top bar
Step 2: Add content blocks to your proposal
Click the + icon between any two blocks (or at the bottom of the canvas) to open the block picker. Choose from the available block types and click to insert. You can add as many blocks as needed and mix types freely throughout the proposal.
- Text — rich text with headings, bullet lists, bold, italic, and links
- Image — upload your own image or choose from the built-in stock photo library
- Pricing Table — line items with quantities, unit prices, and a totals row
- Signature — a legally binding e-signature field for your client to sign
- Cover — a full-width hero with title, subtitle, and a background image
Step 3: Rearrange blocks by dragging
Hover over any block to reveal its drag handle on the left side. Click and drag the handle to move the block up or down in the proposal. Release to drop it into the new position. Reordering is instant and does not affect the content inside the block.
- Use the up/down arrow buttons in the block toolbar as an alternative to dragging
- Duplicate a block by clicking the copy icon in its toolbar — useful for repeating sections
- Delete a block by clicking the trash icon; you can undo immediately with Ctrl+Z (or Cmd+Z on Mac)
- Blocks can also be collapsed to hide them while editing so the canvas stays uncluttered
Step 4: Customize block styles
Click on any block to select it, then open the Style panel on the right. Here you can change fonts, text colors, background colors, padding, and border radius to match your brand identity.
- Set your brand colors once in Settings > Brand Kit and they populate as quick-pick swatches in every block
- Upload your logo in Brand Kit and it will appear in Cover blocks automatically
- Font options include Google Fonts — search and apply any font without leaving the builder
- Apply a global theme to change the visual style of all blocks at once with one click
Step 5: Preview the proposal as your client will see it
Click Preview in the top right corner to open a full-screen preview of the proposal exactly as a client would see it when they open the link. Switch between desktop and mobile views to check the layout on both screen sizes.
- The preview opens in a new tab — you can share this URL temporarily for feedback from a colleague
- Interactive elements like the pricing table and signature block are fully functional in preview mode
- Check that all images load correctly and fonts render as expected before sending to a client
- Exit preview and return to the editor at any time by closing the preview tab
💡 Tip: Use the Cover block as your very first block for a strong visual opening. A full-width header with your client's company name, project title, and a relevant background image immediately signals a professional, personalized proposal — and dramatically increases the chance your client reads past the first screen.
