Getting Started with PortalBloom

Create branded client portals in minutes. Share files, exchange messages, and keep clients in the loop.

Quick Start

Create your account

Sign up for StackBloom and purchase a PortalBloom plan. Head to your portal dashboard to get started.

Create a portal

Click "Create Portal" and give it a name. Choose a URL slug (e.g., acme-corp). Optionally add your logo, brand colors, and a welcome message.

Invite your first client

Add a client by entering their name and email address. They receive a magic link via email that gives them instant access — no account creation needed.

Share files and communicate

Upload files, post project updates, and exchange messages — all within the portal. Your client sees everything in a clean, branded interface.

Creating & Managing Portals

Portal nameA human-readable name shown in the header (e.g., "ACME Corp Project")
URL slugThe unique URL path for the portal (e.g., stackbloom.io/portals/acme-corp)
Welcome messageA custom greeting shown when clients first visit the portal
Archive/DeleteArchive completed portals to keep your dashboard clean. Archived portals can be restored anytime.

Managing Clients

Adding clientsEnter name and email. Client receives a magic link for instant access.
Client statusTrack which clients have been invited, are active, or are suspended.
Multiple clientsEach portal can have multiple clients (limit depends on plan). Great for team projects.
Revoking accessSuspend a client to immediately revoke their access. Their data is preserved.

File Sharing

Uploading filesUpload any file type — PDFs, images, videos, ZIP archives, design files. Drag and drop supported.
Organizing filesCreate folders to organize files by category, milestone, or deliverable.
File limitsStarter: 1GB storage. Pro: 10GB. Business: 50GB. File size limit: 100MB per file.
Client uploadsClients can also upload files to the portal (if enabled in settings).

Portal Messaging

Sending messagesType a message in the portal and it is delivered to the client instantly.
Read receiptsSee when clients have read your messages.
AttachmentsAttach files to messages for quick sharing.
Email notificationsClients receive email notifications for new messages (configurable).

Client Invitations

Magic linksClients access their portal via a unique magic link — no passwords needed.
Custom invite emailsThe invitation email includes your portal name and a direct access link.
Resend invitesResend the invitation email if the client didn't receive it.
Invite trackingSee which invitations have been sent, opened, and used.

Branding & Customization

LogoUpload your company logo. It appears in the portal header. (Pro+)
Brand colorsSet your primary brand color for buttons, links, and accents. (Pro+)
Custom domainUse your own domain (e.g., portal.youragency.com) instead of stackbloom.io. (Pro+)
White-labelRemove all PortalBloom branding. The portal looks 100% like your own product. (Business)

Portal Update Types

Post updates to your portal to keep clients informed. Each update type has a different visual style in the client view.

General

Standard update. Use for status reports, announcements, or notes.

Milestone

Mark a significant project milestone. Highlighted in the portal timeline.

Deliverable

Announce a deliverable is ready. Pair with file uploads for easy access.

Feedback Request

Request feedback from your client. Prompts them to respond.

Security & Privacy

Isolated Access

Each client can only access their own portal. Portals are completely isolated from each other.

Magic Link Auth

Clients access their portal via a secure, time-limited magic link. No shared passwords.

Secure File Storage

Files are stored encrypted and served over HTTPS. Only authorized users can access uploaded files.

Access Controls

Suspend clients instantly, control file upload permissions, and require approval for new client access.
